Stronger together…

Hyster NZ evolves under Adaptalift Group

Hyster New Zealand’s 80-year legacy entered a significant new chapter earlier this year, with the business now operating as part of the Adaptalift Group.

What began as a milestone celebration of eight decades supporting Kiwi industry has evolved into a future-focused partnership that brings together deep local knowledge with the scale, technology and resources of one of Australia’s leading materials handling and fleet management providers.

Founded in 1945 as Gough Materials Handling, Hyster NZ has held a long-standing position across logistics, transport, warehousing, manufacturing and heavy industry. Its 2020 rebrand under Sime Darby Transport (NZ) Ltd continued its reputation for reliability and access to premium Hyster equipment. The move to Adaptalift Group extends that history while broadening the scope of capability available to New Zealand customers.

“Our focus is on elevating capability while ensuring continuity for customers,” says Steven Taylor, executive director of Adaptalift Group. “We’re working closely with the New Zealand team to strengthen service levels and add real value through our technologies, our people, and our national parts support.”

Expanded products, solutions and technology

The shift brings New Zealand customers access to a wider portfolio of materials handling equipment, digital fleet tools and safety technologies supported by Adaptalift’s broader brand network. This enables businesses to build more standardised, efficient and data-driven operations across diverse sites.

For operators already using Hyster equipment, the integration provides additional pathways to improve fleet performance and optimise lifecycle value.

Stronger national support infrastructure

Adaptalift Group has invested in strengthening New Zealand’s service capability with dedicated North and South Island parts distribution centres, increased technical training, expanded telematics and fleet management offerings, and improved response times for uptime-critical environments. This infrastructure is designed around the operational realities of Kiwi industry and the need for dependable nationwide coverage.

Customers continue to work with the same Hyster NZ team they know, now backed by Adaptalift’s engineering expertise and trans-Tasman support systems.

“Collaboration is core to how we operate with our customers,” says Ryan Hosking, New Zealand country manager, Adaptalift Group.

“We continually ask: How can we make things easier? How can we remove friction? That mindset shapes how we improve service delivery, communication, and the digital tools we provide.”

A unified approach to future-ready operations

Adaptalift Group’s investment reflects a long-term commitment to New Zealand’s materials handling sector. The combination of Hyster NZ’s long heritage and Adaptalift’s more than 45 years in Australia provides capability across fleet visibility and telematics, automation and advanced safety systems, electrification and sustainability solutions, and integrated end-to-end fleet management.

This partnership is not only focused on continuing a strong legacy but also on preparing customers for emerging operational demands.

As technologies evolve and environmental expectations rise, the combined strengths of both organisations position them to deliver next-generation solutions that support safer, more efficient and more productive worksites.

Hyster NZ’s story has always been one of “reliability, partnership and progress,” says Hosking.

“With Adaptalift Group, that story continues with renewed investment, expanded capability and a shared commitment to helping New Zealand businesses move smarter and operate stronger.”
