Ali Arc’s aluminium solutions drive safety and vehicle performance

The ever-growing challenge of compliance and risk management is an issue that aluminium fabricator Ali Arc Industries knows “inside-out”.

The design-led manufacturer of vehicle protection and load management systems was established on principles including agility and readiness for modification, general manager Haig Elgar says.

“Ali Arc has developed and adapted vehicle protection products every month of every year since 1988,” Elgar says. That adaptability and responsiveness is what has allowed the business to remain relevant to an industry driven by improvements in technology and performance.

Vehicle manufacturers’ uptake of sensors and driver-assist technology has accelerated in recent years, and Ali Arc has responsively developed products that facilitate the new technologies, without compromising quality.

“We know how costly even minor incidents can be, not only through the expense of vehicle downtime but through the loss of productivity of now inactive, or even worse – injured, staff.”

Elgar says that because Ali Arc understands the expensive impact accidents and injuries can have on businesses, the company’s extensive range addresses problems directly, making it “so highly beneficial in transport, logistics, and fleet management”.

Designed for NZ’s unique conditions – including use on stock trucks, forestry vehicles, utes, long-distance transport, and urban fleets – Ali Arc’s lightweight aluminium products enable strength and durability without compromising fuel efficiency.

The Kiwi manufacturer’s bullbar and nudge bar ranges protect vehicles from the knocks and collisions that are common for busy working utes and trucks. These protective measures also reduce repair expenses and unproductive downtime, while bars improve safety without impacting useability.

Elgar highlights a recent custom-build as an example of increasing protection without compromising functionality: “To customer specifications, and fully certified, the customer got their truck bullbar with integrated winch. Improved safety and functional.”

“We want every product we develop to enhance useability, not compete with it. Our customers, no matter how big or small their needs are, should always hit the road with a sense of improved safety and uncompromised quality because of the work we’ve done.”

He says that Ali Arc’s steps and load-carrying systems also help improve the safety of vehicles users and increase efficiency and protection when transporting and accessing loaded gear.

“The seemingly simple act of climbing in and out of large vehicles is an everyday activity with cumulative, and sometimes serious, injury risks. Investing in side-steps not only improves the working environment, it also improves protection from injury and the associated loss of productivity,” Algar says. Ali Arc’s racks and rear steps also help users safely load and transport gear, getting the job done faster and more efficiently.

Addressing safety imperatives for New Zealand businesses requires specialised knowledge Ali Arc has honed through its decades of production.

“We consider ourselves incredibly lucky to call this place home and be producing in New Zealand,” Elgar says. “We made a commitment to deliver quality and improvement to Kiwi drivers 37 years ago, and we’ve never wavered in that promise.”
