Fashion retailer Kappahl Group has chosen Vanderlande to automate a new logistics centre in Sweden. The two companies have signed a contract for the installation of Vanderlande’s FastPick solution at the 34,000m2 facility, which is expected to go live in June 2026.
Kappahl Group is moving from its existing logistics centre as part of its strategy to modernise logistic operations and manage business growth. Vanderlande’s solution will help the company increase capacity and provides the opportunity to scale up in the future. The new logistics centre – combined with Vanderlande’s future-proof logistic process automation – will improve service levels for Kappahl’s online customer base across Europe and Asia, as well as its network of 330 stores located in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Poland and UK.
Vanderlande’s FastPick solution includes its Adapto automated storage and retrieval system: 159 Adapto shuttles will access 86,000 storage locations across 28 aisles, before moving items to 16 ergonomic goods-to-person picking stations.
To ensure complete efficiency, an inbound and outbound high dynamic storage buffer system is included in the design. Products arriving on a hanger will be handled by Vanderlande’s AirTrax system. Goods will leave the logistics centre via retail and e-commerce shipping sorters in totes, polybags or cartons.
“Vanderlande’s solution will provide the efficiency and capacity we need to fulfil our growth ambitions,” says Eva Meding, logistics manager at Kappahl Group. “In addition, we will be in a position to deliver an even better level of service for our customers and stores as we improve our sustainable logistics flow.”
